Salvatore Sciacchitano \u2013 President of the ICAO Council since 2020<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In <strong>2020<\/strong>, an Italian national was elected President of the ICAO Council\u2014for the <strong>first time for both an Italian and a European<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salvatore Sciacchitano<\/strong>, a civil aviation expert with a long career both in Italy and abroad, assumed office as <strong>President of the ICAO Council<\/strong> on <strong>January 1, 2020<\/strong>, serving in a neutral and impartial capacity within the organization. His mandate, renewed in <strong>2022<\/strong>, has concluded in<strong>\u00a02025<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h6>\ud83d\udcc5 <strong data-start=\"4267\" data-end=\"4293\">Next Stop: Puglia 2026<\/strong><\/h6>\n<p>Italy will host the <strong>ICAO EUR\/NAT DGCA Meeting<\/strong> (Directors General of Civil Aviation) in <strong>June 2026<\/strong>, the main aviation conference for the <strong>Europe\/North Atlantic<\/strong> region.
